Coolant Leak.

JCB..

Non-member
After tempting fate by posting a couple of weeks ago that my trusty 2.7 had covered 75k with almost no problems I noticed that the coolant level was below the lower level. I topped it up only to discover a stain on the car port and a similar one in the car park. A little pool was forming just under the rear offside jacking point.

I read this

and lifted the carpet and soundproofing and sure enough there was a little pool in the boot. I didn't fancy this as a DIY project so its in Porsche Centre Swindon with a diagnosed expansion tank leak.

Interestingly the inside of the boot was a greeny colour - bit like the green bluebottles?

Whilst waiting for a loan car I had a little drive in a 987S - see other post

Bad luck John. Just when the weather turns noce too![&o]

How much is the quote?
I guess this means you get the new design tank now? (So it should not happen again?)

I hope it's not the design team that do the RMS!

It's in the region of £400 +

Well the noce (sic) weather meant we could check out the a/c on the Nightrun!

Bad luck perhaps but it is the first thing I have had to fork out for apart from tyres, disks, pads, and paint jobs!

Hardly a long list considering you've done 75k. If you'd bought an SLK your service manager would be inviting you on holiday with him by now!!!

If its not a daft question why use an OPC surely a Porsche Specialist could have halved your expenses and done a pucker job too [&o] although I doubt they could have provided a 987 demo [:D]

It's purely convenience as it's just up the road, I get a courtesy car and I get it fixed for Monday afternoon. Also so far PC Swindon have been ok (apart from the prices).
