Cooling Fan Relay

I put a new cooling fan relay in about 2 months ago as I thought it was faulty as my cooling fan wasn't coming on when required.
Well yesterday I was in traffic and the temp gauge starts going up - and the cooling fan never came on.
I notice on the fuse Box lid it shows a picture of the relay as a double length one whereas the one I put in is only single length.
Have I got the wrong relay?
thanks

My Lux ('86 oval-dash) had the single relay. We tried to do a swap at last year's Frontrunner to test it, but every other car there was an S2 or Turbo with the double type. It was the fan switch on mine anyway, but it was staying on rather than not coming on.

If it happens again youll be able to keep it out of the red using the cockpit heater. I did this in my series one car on the hottest day of the year: this was the only time Ive regretted fitting fixed windows. I dont have a sunroof either and it got so hot in the cabin that my polycarbonate rear window sagged.....

Hmm tried that. I was in the (normally !) long queue waiting to go through the Dartford Tunnel on a Friday on the M25 and was in a middle lane so nowhere to go and gauge in the red with the big engine warning light on with heater blasting hot air out. Luckily got through without any probs but a few anxious moments when I didnt kno if to shut off the engine. Steve
