Hi all. Have a new problem after fixing the clutch. Over-heating!

There appears to be coolant on the inside of the bonnet by the expansion tank.

Anyone have experience of over-heating from the radiator cap not sealing properly?

Looking at it now doubt its original and so 20 years old. As they are relatively cheap I think I'll replace it.

Is the rating 15lbs?

Just got a new one from frazerpart for mine. Cheap as chips [] Less than a tenner if I remember right.

By all means replace it, and I hope that does the trick.

Be warned though that you should ocntinue to keep a close eye on it, and on other parts of the cooling system. Coolant caps have spring pressures on them for a reason: that reason is to release excessive cooling system pressure before it blows off a hose and all your coolant gets dumped on the ground.

The most common reason for excessive cooling system pressure in an old car is head gasket failure. This need not necessarily involve oil/water mixing.
