cost of a fog light?

Hi fellas. My off side foglight glass is cracked on my '86 lux. I presume it is just the glass. A breakers yard has offered me a replacement for £40. Is this reasonable or should I wait until one appears on fleabay??

Cheers!

Neil.

These can be quite rare Neil as they are one of the first things to suffer from stone chips. I managed to get one on fleabay for a fiver. Suggest copying the pic and blowing it up to check condition. Check screw holes also as they seem to differ. My 89 lux has holes in the middle on each side but saw some recently with holes in the corners..
As for the breakers??? A matter of bank balance vs patience!!!

For a Lux they are about £20 brand new. I was once quoted that and my jaw nearly dropped until I realised he'd quoted me for a Lux fog light and not an S2/turbo unit, which is about £100.

If holed but otherwise intact, they can be repaired with a blob of araldite. (To do a good job, put the blob on from the inside, with a piece of tape over the hole on the outside.)

It's not as good as a replacement unit, but you need to look to see the repair. And if you have an S2/turbo front end, that £100 can be better spent on beer (or similar)!
