Cost of fitting new door jam

Could anyone provide a rough cost for getting a new drivers' side door jam fitted (i.e. cost of cutting out the old one, welding new one in place, and finishing)?

Any recommendations for this kind of work in East Anglia ? (I live in Cambridge)

cheers

Hi Matt
The door jam panel itself is negligible - but it's what you will find underneath that could prove expensive! The kidney bowl and inner sill usually rot away and this is not fully visible until you take off the door striker panel.
You may be very lucky but be prepared for a shock! I went down this route when I had a 3.2 and the small bubble on the striker panel cost me over £10K in the end! Once you start its easy to get carried away with other work - as was my case.
Sorry to spread the gloom - but it really can be a sad experience. Don't forget that there are two sides that rot away.
Word of warning - use genuine panels and not aftermarket ones. Genuine ones will fit properly and the time involved making non genuine ones to fit just isn't worth it.
Best of luck!

You should phone Berny Tester in Stowmarket he will give you a fair price and do an excellent job, Berny is a proper craftsman.

If you remove the sill cover and have a prod about you should get some idea of the extent of the rot but as said above its not what you can see on the outside its what you find under the skin that costs. The B post is a great rust trap.
