Cost of front brake discs and pads

Not really, Rushden, Northants but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to advise on an indie near you..... or you could take it there & visit the new retail park that's within walking distance while it's being done!
that way you get a drive out & your car done......

I actually done mine myself on my 996 4S, all 4 corners for £600....

It's a doddle to do yourself if you've got half a brain cell, a jack and a few basic tools.????????

If you're in Gloucestershire, why not try OPC Tewkesbury as they'll be closer? You'll also get 10% discount for being a PCGB member and if you give them enough notice, you'll get a courtesy car, which is a great way to drive other Porsche models.

Whichever way you look at it though, OPC are likely to be the most expensive for a car that age.

Challenge Motor company in Cheltenham have looked after VW & Audis for me for years. Can't fault them. They also specialise in Porsche, so worth asking them for a quote.

Cheers,
Bryan

Fitting time is approx 1.6 hrs, so you will find that the difference in labour between indie and main dealer is probably about £100.

The remainder is the difference between part prices and the actual parts replaced. OEM parts will be a third cheaper, possibly more. Pattern parts are cheaper still. Not all indies will replace calipers bolts, dampener plates and fitting kits. A main dealer has to - Porsche law!

We tend to do calipers bolts, dampener plates and just inspect fitting kits. FWIW we charge about £450inc without fitting kits.

I have the neglected 986 Boxter S and have just had the plugs changed at £4 each and four of the ignition coils changed at £14 each
along with the brake fluid change, and bulbs to rear the total labour has been £100. Remember that this is just a car it does not have to go to a so called Indie or Porsche. We are at the stage where b ll is baffling brains. Next the drivers window will not deflect on opening so this will be tacked at a lot less than £374 quoted.
Lets attract more 986 Boxters to the club and support them because its not happening at the moment

Good shout out for Tony and the team at Dove House, they did my 986 S front brakes for around the £500 mark in December

I will probably do them myself going forward - my son could change the pads on my 944T when he was 8 so they can't be that hard....

That is good, how does that figure breakdown?
Do you have issues with the red key light on in the cabin which I put down to a bad connection on either the front or rear trunks.
The car then hoots when locking with the blipper?

Glynn,

It sounds as though you may have a problem with one of the microswitches - bonnet, boot, doors or the fascia cubby-hole. Or perhaps you have a faulty alarm module.
