Costwold Rally - any other takers ?

I know Michael Lacy is going . . . as for me, I know I should go, but it takes me 3-4 hours to get to the starting line, and I've go so much going on at the moment.

After such a disappointing response from me (much like my help your 'strut' question) I really do hope we can muster a good number of cars for this. The Cotswolds is a lovely place . . . with great pubs and places to eat . . . so why not make a weekend of it.

It a non-competitive rally (scenic run) through the Cotswolds with all manner of Porsches.

Taking place on 8th May - starting at Cornbury House (Moreton in Marsh) and presumably finishing there also.

I`ve booked, so come on, we need to try for the team prize, last year there were only two early 911`s. Its a great day out.

I have posted a letter to Geoff Ives for more info with the full intention of going so count me in.

Looking at the signatures on the thread sofar ...it looks like a bunch of 72 911s ...I think Michael's S is too ... unusual [:-]

Kieran,

You've probably been asked this before but is that a dead bear on the back of the 356 (your avatar thingy)

Here's a little more detail on the event (taken from the home page).
6th Carole Nash Cotswold Rally Sunday May 8th

Yes it is the Cotswold Rally and, basically, the same format as before; if it ain't broke, don't fix it! The stopping point will be the "ËśCotswold
Wildlife Park'. Old hands will realise that we have been there before, in 2003 to be exact. This time there will be more time to enjoy the park as we will be repeating last year's "Ëśpacked lunch' format, thereby removing the need to hurry back to Cornbury House for food. The distance will be approximately 100 miles and the event will be capped at 100 cars. The starting venue is Cornbury House. The first cars will leave at 9:30 a.m. and the last vehicles should have left by 11 a.m. The route is one that we haven't used before and takes in roads from "ËśA' class to single track, but will be suitable for all production Porsches. You will be issued with "ËśTulip' route maps and believe me, it is easy. The cost of the event is, as usual, ÂŁ30 per car and that includes a Rally plaque, sticker, pin badge, "Ëśtulip' maps and a packed lunch. It also includes entry to the
Wildlife Park for two people. There will be awards for "ËśCar of the Event',
"ËśFamily Porsche', "ËśCarole's Choice', "ËśHeritage Porsche' and "ËśBest Register'. We have Carole Nash Insurance to thank for its continued support, allowing us to offer this event at a cost that is within the reach of all members.

For a Booking Form and regulations, please send a large (A5 or larger) stamped addressed envelope to Geoff Ives, P.O. Box 2 Eynsham, Witney, Oxon. OX29 5RW, marking your envelope "ËśCotswold Rally'.

Thanks for the info

That's pretty horrific . . . you can see all the blood dripping down the body work (interesting non the less)

Nice looking motor (yours that is).

I`m going, and am on running number 10 this year. Hope to do some work on the car at easter, and hope to get the sports seats next week, so see you there Kieran.

You have beaten last years total already but you have some way to go for the team prize. I have just had a quick flick through the entries and as far as pure numbers go Boxsters lead with 3.2 Carerra and 944 following but it is not that simple as I take the size of the Registers into account. 911SC looks good.

Sounds good - anyone know the distance involved? One thing I can't be accused of is underusing our car, we have something going on every other weekend it seems, poor thing must be wondering what the hell's going on after living in California and just doing 66k in 35 years...

OFF TOPIC
Geoff - there was a 924 (A Reg, Alpine White) on eBay a while ago from Witney (didn't sell), have you ever seen it around there?
