Coupe Clinic

Attended Reading OPC last week and got a shopping list, most of which I was expecting.

They did quote £250 for a 4 wheel alignment check. Without wishing to get into a discussion about Centre Gravity at this time, is this worth doing at the OPC? Car is 3 years old and did have its front dampers replaced under warranty about a year ago.

Also, they spotted oil smear below the gearbox. Diagnosed as IMS (or RMS?). They said that it is not too bad at the moment and should be OK to leave for the time being. I have an extended Porsche warranty and they confirmed work should be covered.

However, I have noticed the the oil level gauge has dropped a bar recently. Up to now, 24k miles, the level has always read full. Should I insist they examine further and get work approved by Porsche? My thinking is to ask them to do it as they have disgnosed the issue. The only benefit I can see of leaving it would that the clutch may get contaminated by oil and we can discuss that being replaced under warranty at the same time

Finally, anybody else hear of of a late 2008 2.7 Cayman having the IMS problem?

Hi I also attended the Coupe Clinic but didn't get a shopping list.... My back tyres are starting to go but the technician said I was ok to leave them until early next year. The only issue was the sales guys trying to sell me a 911 and the bad show from the Engalnd Rugby team. Jo

HI I also attended the Coupe Clinic & sorry to say my Cayman S Tiptronic had no problems at all but was advised to keep a eye on the oil level but was advised it should be fine as the next service was due next year in August 2012. My Cayman S is a 2006 model & still on the same tyres from new & was advised between 4 on the front & 3.5 on the rear. I would say to get the work done at your dealership as they maybe able to give you a better deal on the other problem they have quoted £250 as your getting the other things done under the Porsche Warranty as I had my Bonnet repaired under Warranty a few weeks back as a small spot come into view by the lock & they did a excellent job & by reporting it to Porsche & getting the work approved by porsche it only took a few days. So I would say always get any work done by your Dealership & it will go your way when you come to sale your Cayman in the future as the dealership & Porsche will always have a record of any work done, unlike if you went somewhere else they may not have the same record details on your Cayman as Porsche GB will on there database. All the best & what ever you do good luck & enjoy your Cayman, Yours Truly Kevin. [:)]
