Sat Nav : works fine most of the time but occasionally throws a wobbler where I key in destination , it calculates the route but then doesn't ' achnowledge ' the car moving . It just stays in the same arrow pointing position . Is this because the old system cannot figure out my house is off the beaten track / main road ?( normally works elsewhere when I re-join a main road etc ).

heated seats : very disappointed that Porsche dealership couldn't find the fault as to why drivers seat doesn't work without now having to buy parts to try and swap out ! This will cost me about £1800 for them to 'find out' which part it is that's knackered !! Also the 5 star warranty is hilarious as they say they don't cover heated seats shock seems bizarre ! Hate this laptop diagnostics when really I need a damned auto electrician . Has a mobridge fitted which I believe is popular to fit under the drivers seat and wondering if they have used heated seat power lead instead of running new etc .

any advice greatly appreciated ,
jas

Porsche (not third party) warranty doesnt cover the heated seats? Seems strange. Or could it be that with your mobridge fitted you have voided that part of your warranty?

Hi Jason,

It's always a good plan to start off this type of enquiry with the car model and year, so we know what we are working with.

The PCM previously had an off-road function available as an optional extra, if yours fails to show your exact positon when not on a highway, then this has not been installed. Also, if the positioning aerial is unable to "see" the navigational satellites due poor reception, the screen will be unable to update the map until this improves by relocation. The fact it recovers once you have moved onto a main highway, would seem to indicate it is functioning correctly. The aerial is located behind the front PU and it has been known to work loose, which would make for erratic functioning.

If you have Porsche Approved Warranty, there is no reason why your heated seat would not be covered . The warranty specifically includes the electrical system in the list of systems covered. However, if you have non-genuine parts fitted this could invalidate the warranty, but then I would have expected the car to have failed its 111 point check.

It would be advisable to remove any non-genuine Porsche parts before making any warranty claim.

Regards,

Clive.

Thanks gents .
2005 C2 S .
front PU Clive ?
Should have been clearer . No, t can go for hours without ever updating position or route . Try re-entering it but it calculates as if I'm back at the house . It's like it's stored it's last position before switching off and gets stuck there . So, I try at the house , calculates rate and distance fine . Moved off, nothing . Drive for example 15 miles , nothing . Re-enter at this point and calculates route and distance from original start point , not the new location .
Weird .
re the warranty . Wasn't a Porsche warranty but third party 5 star so wasn't cheap . They totally rejected any claims for heated seat repair saying it wasn't covered . Even the dealerships Intervention wouldn't make them see sense or cough up .

PU is the bumber cover (its made from Polyeurathane PU) and is painted to match the bodywork.

Shame your 5-star warranty doesnt cover the seats. Who is the warranty with and what did it cost? I just extended my Porsche warranty and it wasnt cheap but i have faith that it will cough up if needed.

You meant to say bumper cover, I'm sure - Freudian slip there. :ROFLMAO:
I think it's the 6-star warranty that's needed in this case. What are they saying about a PCM replacement, then?

Clive

You guys are going to have to be patient with me here but the bumper cover ?
Ive just had the front bumper and splitter off for a respray as it was 'tired' and nobody mentioned the antenna mounted there ? It's not the large round disc that I presumed was covering the towing eye ? ????????
i will have to dig it up . It expired in December and they wanted about another £800 to extend but I declined as it didn't appear to be worth it. On the two issues I had , I hit fleeced both times by my local dealer for 'diagnostics' and ' un-ticking a box' in one instance so gave up . I now use an independant Porsche specialist .

The car has been in storage all winter , hence the gap between it happening , the warranty expiring , and me asking the questions now .

What you just descibed as the bumper is in fact just a PU cover to the real bumper which is a steel structure hidden behind. Most modern cars are like this. Old bumpers like those chrome items found on MGBs and Ford Escort Mk IIs are a thing of the past.

Ref heated seats usual culprit is the wiring in the foam seating burning out. Back rest (near bottom) more prone than seat base. If you have sport seats you can remove them and there are instructions on internet on how to remove the backs.

PS they make good kneeling pads.

Thanks Gordon .
would that explain lack of illumination on settings at the button on the console though ?
Im not getting any indication of power to the seat at all going by the switch .

Other thing may be mice chewed through some wires. Just picking up on the 'storage over winter' comment.

identified before car went into storage .
still not had a chance to check fuses but t has been into Porsche , I would like to think it's the first thing they checked .
