Couple of pics from yesterday's trackday.

Firstly, do you have to be a member to do multiple pics within one post and how do you load it up so it's not a thumbnail but an open picture in the post? Thanks.

Here are a couple of pics from yesterday. We played with suspension (adj sways and KWs) plus heat cycled the new slicks in. I rather like the mean look the wheel & tyre combo give the car. The extra outside diameter of the tyres really fills the guards. I had to get the front wheel wells opened up to fit them.

Obviously there are a few other additions to the car. The wing and the splitter seem to compliment one another visually. I'm not sure in terms of actual downforce. I had a lot of understeer, snap oversteer yesterday so it's still early days to sumise.

It's starting to look less and less like a roadcar now Patrick [;)]

What was the verdict from Dave? Isn't he originally from Chicago on Rennlist?

To get multiple images on one post you upload your photo to a hosting service like www.photobucket.com

Then you enter the URL of each photo into the popup window that appears on the forum when you press the yellow 'stamp' button at the top R.H corner of the entry window

Thanks Paul. I've just cut and pasted that and sent it to myself to keep for future reference. [:)]

Yes Dave is Evil 944t on Rennlist and lives just outside Chicago. He is partially responsible for my upcoming motor. He made the exhaust, fuel rail and worked on a bunch of other stuff regarding it. He had a good day and adjusted to the RHD nature of the car pretty easily.

The car is really a hybrid now. I am just at that fork in the road to decide about stripping and caging it. I don't want to do it but that's the logical progression. The new motor is really going to be a major handful and safety and lightness will be paramount.

If its very powerful and on slicks or sticky tyres etc its a no brainer. Your corner speeds will be very quick so an 'off ' will become a serious issue. At least a roll hoop and serious seats that offer some side protection.

I`d love a passenger trip in it. It looks superb, that splitter is mahoosive [8D]

Fantastic stuff. We all need guys like you to push things to the extreme end of modification, so that us mere mortals can pick and choose the bits we want to try!

Thanks guys for the compliments. As many of you know, sometimes you wind up somewhere that you never planned when you set out on your 'journey'. I know that sounds flaky but it just started out with a set of chips, I swear. [&:]
In terms of caging it, yes it is a no brainer, but I had serious plans for a dedicated track car and have many of the requirements already paid for....but there would still be a lot of work to be done and a lot more money needed and like most of us, that money is not so readily available any more, soooooo what do I do? I think I'm reluctantly 70/30 for going the whole hog on this car which means pretty much no more or very little street driving with a cage. I have waited a long time for this new motor to be built and have got used to 350+hp at the crank. To me this is now pretty easy to control and you get an over inflated sense of confidence. There is every indication that the new motor will hit well over 600hp at the crank. That will be a different animal and I'm pretty sure will hasten my decision.
I'm trying to upload some video we took yesterday to Youtube but it's playing silly buggers with me and I don't get all that giga-mega-kilabite stuff??
Why will some movies upload that last 15 mins on there yet I try and upload a 3 min video and it spits it back at me? Oh to be young again...[]

Strip the car completely, acid dip the shell, seam weld, seam seal, etch prime, weld in cage, thin lick of paint. End product will not only be incredibly stiff but you save a stunning amount of weight. I still find it hard to believe how much but ISTR in the region of 100 Kg. Pretty much every race car here goes this route because its the only way really [except perhaps the seam weld because thats not allowed in the regs in many cases].

It really is the ultimate mod and one I am doing at the moment using an exchange motorsport shell from EMC here in Birmingham.

Your car looks great btw.

I agree with Paul. Stiff suspension and slick tyres demand a multipoint cage (tied to the front and rear suspension points), because the bodyshell cant withstand the extra loads that are being placed upon it.

Stop hitting me with logic guys. My procrastinating can't take it. [&:] Part of the problem is my finances can't take it either. eek....
