Couple of questions - lights and horn

Hello all,

Couple of newbie questions for you -

Tried to perform my standard lighting upgrade of Philips SilverVision bulbs yesterday but unfortunately the screws that hold the headlights have been rounded off nicely at some point in the past. Is there anyway I can get round this? The fog/drive lamps are also similarly rusty/rounded, and I was wondering if I could get to them any other way than through the lenses?

Also, the horn keeps blowing the fuse. I looked in the Haynes book of lies but it wasn't much use. Where is the horn, and how do I get to it?

Many thanks,

Justin.

The horn is located on the passenger side beside the front fog light/ sidelight. Although if it is blowing fuses, you may have a broken wire either arcing the live or earthing out onto the body/chassis. As for the lights, I would try your best with every screwdriver available and then replace the screws (or drill them out?)
You will definitely notice the difference from the bulbs though.

hacksaw a slot across the face and use a flat blade screwdriver? (after a liberal dosing of WD40 of course!)

Hi Justin. I can't remember exactly which 944 you have, but my S2 and Turbo have their horn up by the fusebox in front of the windscreen.

You don't need to unscrew the headlamps to change the bulbs. Simply pop up the headlamp pod, take off the painted pod cover and you will see the back of the bulb. Pull off the rubber protective 'bung', and the bulb can be removed by squeezing together the retaining clip.

The fog lamp/ driving lamp is a different matter. The screws holding the lens are a well known sticking point. If you can't loosen them off with WD40 then you'll have to drill, but be careful or you'll need to buy new lenses (circa £80 each from the usual suspects). If you damage the backing plate there is now a cheap supply of these from www.clubautosport.co.uk in the West Midlands.

Previously the whole assembly was £180 a side []

If your foglights are for an S2 + you manage to break them in freeing them off....
I have a "spare" pair of the "buckets" that i bought from http://www.clubautosport.co.uk/ They are BRAND new...
If you need them ill let them go for a reasonable amount...I dont need then now...
PS i bought them for £40 each + vat + postage....
You can have them for £50 the pair, incl p+p....thats LESS than half price...[8|][8|]

err sorry to disagree, but I think you will find the alarm sounder (which looks like a horn) is up by the fusebox the horn is between the front Near side wheel arch liner and the foglight. If they rust up it might cause the fuse to blow.

Well blow me down........ you're absolutely right (and my eardrums can confirm it).

I always thought the alarm used the car horn, didn't realise it had it's own. Excess weight - how silly [;)]
