Couple of questions

Having driven my car for the first time in the dark (!) I notice the tip buttons on the steering wheel are not lit up? Should they be? Also I have never seen my car in 1st gear ever, even tonight in stationary traffic on the M18 it stayed in 2 when not moving then setting off - is there something wrong? - quick answer appreciated as its goes in for Major service in the morning [:)]
Thanks

It doesn't sound like there is anything wrong.

The steering wheel switches are not backlit.

If you leave the drive in auto it will pull away in second, and only change down to second. If you FLOOR the throttle when pulling away from rest, you should see it change down to first. The exception to this is first time you pull away from cold, when the warm-up program holds the car in first gear to pull away.

If you drive on the switches, it will still only chage down automatically to second when you stop. You have to switch it to first gear for the traffic light Grand Prix.

Jon,

the light removal is quite easy, as per handbook, it comes apart, (mine fell apart as it had been seperated before), I took bulbs out, replaced them immediately, then all worked fine..... was just bad earth & OPC wanted £105...
So worth a try.

Paul

Thanks Paul - Just cracked it, didn't realise you had to turn the bit anti-clockwise to release the entire panel! OPC £105 - WOW!

BTW - I tried to PM you the other day to thank you for your message but it wouldn't let me, Appreciate the advice and I wasn't being rude

Boost is limited to 0.4 bar by the DME if there is a problem. Best get a diagnostic check done, to see what fault codes are recorded. It could be any number of things, but quite often something simple. I had it once on mine when a boost hose popped off.

As for mats, if you just want a pair of fronts get a set for a 986 Boxster. They are exactly the same, but (obviously) without rear mats, so cheaper.

Cheers Richard - Good tip on the matts, my rears are perfect, the front obvisouly get a bit more abuse so that's the route I'll take.

Thanks for the info on DME also
