Hi Chaps,

Anyone have any advice on the best cover for 911 991.

Since receiving my new car an incredible amount of birds seemed to of moved into my area and are continually pooping and dropping mud from there nest building!!!! My wife won't let me disturb the little beggars so.....

I think I just need a very simple inexpensive cover.........?

If you decide to go for a cover I would recommend Classic Additions http://www.classicadditions.com/ they have a good range of products at reasonable prices.

The problem with covers, in my opinion, is that the car really needs to be completely clean when you put them on otherwise any dirt etc will get rubbed into the paint. The covers can also rub against the paintwork in strong winds and potentailly leave marks.

Have you thought about applying a coat of good quality wax and then washing any droppings off as soon as you see them?

my experience with outdoor covers is ,as terry implied, mixed to say the least!!

ended up scratching the bodywork so left it off in the end
if faced without a garage again i would consider one of the fold down variety which stands free of the car .
or wash off and apply LOADS of high quality wax

Like most my experience is mixed as the car does need to be clean when covered but the outdoor cover I bought from my OPC 4 years ago is still in full time use it gets bundled into the washing machine every few months - have resorted to laying a cotton sheet under it over the bonnet as this is where the scuffing showed on a black car and although this could retain moisture I can report after 6 months it is working fine
Should not dismiss the benefit that keeping the car covered has on reducing UV degrading and fading of plastics and rubbers also

ok I shall take your advice and not bother with the cover....the cotton sheet would definitely work and keep the bird shit and nest building dirt off but would it look daft in my driveway?

I love birds but love my car more so i think the answer is to destroy the nest with the jet wash when the occupants and my wife are out!!!!!

ORIGINAL: waxman
