hi I have just purchased a 997 carrera s 2006 with 78000mls this is my first porsche and everything i ever wanted lol could anyone help in advising on a all weather cover for this please .

As it happens I have a Voyager cover for sale which is a perfect fit for the 997 Gen 2 (is yours a Gen 2?). It has only been used a couple of times and I have now sold my 911 and need to sell the cover. If you mail me on Gordon.wood @ Ochiba.co.uk I can send you some photos.

thinking about it, I don't think there will be an issue with the car being Gen 1 or Gen 2. When I first bought the cover they sent me one for a 996 which didn't fit at all but I think the dimensions of the 997 didn't change between generations so it should fit anyway.

thanks for the reply Gordon, is it a full weather cover and what are you asking for it ? I have been reading the links in relation to the covers and have noticed a lot of posts on the merrits of not covering the car what are your views on this?

For the odd occasions when mine has an extended stay outside I use a Stormshield + from Specialised Covers. Needs some care putting on and taking off but otherwise it's excellent and a beautiful, tailored fit.

Hi
Welcome aboard
I use a Porsche cover, really easy to put on and take off - start with the logo fo the front and put the "ears" over the door mirrors and it more or less fits itself. Our car is kept outside and I use it to prevent bird poo!!

As you say, there is a big debate around whether or not to use a car cover outdoors. If you don't wash your car and let it dry before putting on a cover the paintwork will get scratched by the cover moving around with the wind. Are you likely to wash it every time you use it?

I use a folding garage from a company called Canvas and Nylon, it is very good, and even better with a few little mods I have made. It is really easy and quick when I want to use the car for work and keeps the weather and bird poo off and as we are always walking past with shopping etc it also stops any little accidents. If I bought another one I would have the 7'6" rather than the 7'. This is for my gen1 997, cheers Tony

I have always used a Porsche outside cover and do wash the car before putting on which may not always be possible for you but found them very effective
a point of note the wing mirrors are larger on the gen 2 997 than the gen 1 and will rip a gen 1 cover as mine did although I had had a good few years of use before buying a gen 2 cover - remember to get your PCGB 10% discount if you buy from an OPC
