crabbing 924

Hi all,

I'm new to 924 ownership and whilst so far quite impressed with the experience (only 2 days in so far..) I'm told that my 924 (1982) drives like a crab, with following drivers commenting that the rear seems to sit decidedly to the left of the front. All the panel-work appears to be original (though perhaps not all the paint) and the panel gaps seem good, so I'm hoping this will turn out to be an issue with the bushes on the trailing arm(s), or at worst a bent trailing arm, rather than a badly repaired shell. (The tracking at the front is apparently correct). Does this sound feasible, or just unrealistically optimistic?!

Can't comment, never heard of it before. Maybe the front cross member has been removed for bottom end engine remedial work, and put back on the pi**. No amount of four wheel tracking will reveal if the rh wheel base is longer than the left. As I said, its a maybe.

does the car drive fine, in a straight line with no pulling , is it just from the rear it looks odd , possibly it could be a rear shock thats weak causing it to list ? appearing like its swaying ,,

Well, I've had a peer underneath, and apart from the fact the shocks and arms at the back look pretty corroded, I can't see anything blatently amiss. But at the end of the day I don't have a clue what I should be looking at.. So, can anyone recommend a specialist type place near Preston / Chorley / Bolton who can check the four wheel alignment and diagnose the problem? I don't want to ignore the problem... I figure any VW beetle specialist may be able to help, as it's basically a similar rear suspension set-up, right?

Oh - and I meant to say, that yes, it feels ok when driving, with no particular pulling. But perhaps, yes, one of the shocks is more dead than the other.. Thanks for the (quite optimistic!) comments!
