Hello everyone,

I break down last week after going over a few bumps, the car suddenly shut down itself; I got it recovered to my Porsche specialist,
he stated by disconnecting the alarm (being over 10 years old) , then they started it again a few times and it was runnig find, then suddenly it was running really rough, on 5 cylinder, it's seam that one injector stay open, when I plug my laptop the AFR was about 9 so obviously to rich, after investigating a bit more they discover that the crank position sensor was cracked and in bad condition (it was working time to time), but also a coil was damaged... dispate I had just changed both coils a month ago ( I then break down; 1 was melted and the other one had failed)
does anyone had experienced those issues ? I still don't understand why the new coil failed ....
could crank sensor failure damage the coils ?

thanks for your comments

Konstantin

No, the crank sensor cannot damage the coils. The crank sensors can get damaged due to corrosion of the mounting bracket but the coil problem is surely electrical in nature. Check the central electrics for any obvious damage, check R11 test relay, R41 DME relays and R33 TermX are ok, and also make sure the two rotors in the distributor are moving i.e the belt has not snapped..

hi,

thanks for your reply, in did the sensor was corroded, when they try to remove it the bracket cracked,
here in south of France temperature is around 33/35, the problem was that when cold it started well and when hot it failed,
the belt is OK, I will ask if they check well the relays,
