Creak....Creak!!!!!!!

Hello
Just back from a run in my 95 Carrera 2 have a non mechanical annoying "creak"coming from the front of the cabin.
Could this be the Windsreen creak that I remember reading about somewhere.Car has 61k on the clock and is original and I have never had any squeaks/creaks/noises before.
What can I do to eradicate or reduce this noise if it is the screen??
My skills would be limited on a good day! Advise would need to be small step by step and idiot proof!!!
Any help would be gratefully received..

Hi,
Mark thank you for the information in your swift reply.A lot of information contained therein.I had a look at the exterior windscreen rubber surround rubber this evening ,it seems fairly well attached/tucked in .
I take it that I cannot do any damage by prising/lifting/squeezing the exposed edge in order to introduce the dry bicycle lubricant (which I have still to obtain) do not want to make a pig's ear of this.
I take it that wd 40 or similar would not do the job?
Is the bottom of the screen the main suspect area?

Many thanks.

No

It would, but it doesn't last long. It also fizzes all over the screen and paintwork. Not good.

Is the bottom of the screen the main suspect area?
Yes, on my car it is, but do not rule out the top and sides.

mine creaked after a new screen !
opc in sussex put on the ptfe tape around it & it went nice & quiet in july 2006
now it just has a little bit of noise so i have to floor it more to quieten it,
& to here the great noise of a 6 piece orchestra behind me.
hope this helps you.
