Creaking clutch pedal solved!

Guys
Over the past few weeks, the clutch pedal in my Lux has been noisy. Started as a high pitched squeak, but then disappeared with a little WD40...
Came back intermittently last week as more of a metallic "groan". Checked the linkage-all looked fine. No master cyl problems either. Didn't respond to some silicone grease either.

Got rapidly worse today....[:-] Constantly groaning-an awful sound!
Bit the bullet and got into the footwell upside down....[8|]
Disconnected the master cylinder clevis and pulled it off.....aah! That's why!
The nylon pedal bearing had almost completely dissolved into bits-said noise was the clevis grinding against the pedal rod !

Problem no.2-the retaining spring clip was broken when I took it off-I don't know how it was still there. Phoned OPC who can get me parts for tomorrow, but as my BMW is currently off the road with propshaft failure, I need to drive to Solihull in the 944 tomorrow.....

Went in for a think and a cup of tea. Then I had a lightbulb moment![:D]

I currently have a 924 on the drive that I'm restoring. It doesnt have a pedal bearing, but it DOES have a spring clip exactly the same! Stole it and fitted to the 944, packing the whole thing temporarily in copper grease to prevent wear.

If only all problems were this easily solved!
