Creaking/Squeaking from rear

Hi all
my 84 Lux has developed a problem...It has developed a Creaking/Squeaking noise from the off side rear suspension that is very loud...The funny thing is that it only happened after i decided to fill up the petrol tank to the brim..Normally it never has over 1/4 in it as it's just a weekend car.So i thought Hmmmmm i'll let the petrol tank level get down to low again and the noise may go..But you guessed it.... it has'nt..!!!!...I must have overloaded a worn suspension component and sent it over the edge...!!!!!
Any ideas anyone.??

Have you checked the tank securing straps? if one of them has given up the creak could be the tank moving!
