Hi. I had the same issue two years ago with my 2003 996 C4. Was very annoying and loud enough to be embarrassing with the windows down. After two visits to the OPC they got it fixed. Initially they replaced the clutch plate, but that made no difference. On the second visit they replaced the clutch cables and that solved the issue. All under warranty and no problems to date.

Hi mate,

My 996 C4 clutch pedal creaks too. Have been told it's probably the cables being worn. I'll have it done at next service as i just turn radio up in the meantime.[:'(]

Mine has done it ever since the clutch was replaced about a month ago, only does it when it's hot. Going in to OPC on sept 13th, though I would happily accept any other advice/insults from anyone else who has had this problem cured.

hi,
not sure what the answer is but it occurred on my C4s at low mileage 2k when hot or cold. The dealer removed the gearbox and did something to the clutch linkage-cured.
It came back at 12k but only when really hot(track use)and goes away on the way home.

My 996 C2 (late 2001) also does it when hot ie track day and all the way home. I'd like to know if this as a 'characteristic' I can safely ignore or should is there a safety issue?
