CREAKING WITH NO SCREEN

My 993 C4 is in the body shop to have the windscreen removed and some corrosion attended to at the bottom of the screen, due to poor screen fitment.
The screen was creaking like mad, so at the same time thay were going to re fit the screen correctly.
I have recieved a telephone call from them saying that the creaking is still there with the screen removed as they move the car about there garage.
Will the shell creak if no screen is fitted.
Does the screen form part of the structure.
The car is fitted with mo30 suspension, strut brace and 18" wheels, but i dont think this has anything to do with it.
Any ideas please.

I've read on several occassions that the screen is part of the structure and must be intact for the car to have its designed strength.

However I thought that the creak was the movement of the structure against the edges of the screen as the screen does the job of preventing too much structural flex. (And PTFE rope is used to prevent them touching).

Maybe the creak is just the structure itself and a poorly fitted screen allows movement - nothing to do with the two items touching. All a bit worrying.

Anyway I need to get mine done (once I get it back with it's new clutch)

Who is doing the work for you?
