Creaky windscreen?

I've heard of creaky screens in the 993s, but do they creak in the 996s?

Only wondering as I'm sure mine is a bit.

If it is, is it a relatively easy fix?

Thanks

R.

I used to think my screen rattled a bit (particularly noticeable when hitting bumps on the motorway), and vary rarely made a strange vibration sound at certain speeds (perhaps that's what you mean by creaking?)

I was convinced the rubber seal had hardened up, and sure enough when I had the screen and seal replaced (under car insurance, due to some irrepairable stone chips) such problems have gone away. A few air-leak type sounds have also ceased.

The giveaway on my car was that the black edging (that is on the bottom surface of the windscreen) was starting to take on a white tinge in the bottom corners - like water was getting in.

Robert, Yes.
My used 2002 996 had this problem upon collection and while the Dealer (not OPC) tried to resolve the issue with Silcon spray it did not work. He then obtained the proper Porsche Tape via OPC (this fits between the seal and the screen frame on the body shell) and after fitting (a slow and fiddly job) it is now creak free.

Only problem now is that i can here the dash rattle!

I only notice the sound on low speed manoeuvres... it could either be that or some suspension bit. It sounds too close to be the suspension though, not sure.

Other than that, the car seems commendably rattle free now that I've removed a full bottle of mineral water (best before oct 05), a matchbox car and £1.02 in loose change from under the seats. I do sometimes wonder exactly what the self-proclaimed 'detailer' at the dealer actually did prep-wise to the car before I picked it up cos it certainly wasn't cleaned much.
