Cream 356 Oxford Services This Morning

Daughter sent me a photo of a car she followed into Oxford Services this morning, saying "What is it, it said Porsche on the back?".

Looks to me like a 356 cabriolet/roadster in cream with racing numbers on the offside (and following a green TR3!). Think the reg is SWB 7.

Anyone recognise / know the car? i don't know enough about 356's to give her a better description!

Let's see if I can add the photo to this thread....

Hmmm.... Ask your daughter to take a pic of front end as well next time.... Sweep of front fender possibly looks like an 'A'. My vote is for a 1958 Speedster. Don't think its a '59 Convertable D. ...But could be 356B Roadster up to '61. ...no, the windshield looks like a Speedster, I'm going with '58 (or very late '57) Speedster.

Agree - Poor fitting soft top and window line make it look like a Speedster - but is it a 'Proper Job' Well thats another question?

We replica guys dont need red flashes or numbers on the side to get attention ......I had to sell mine in the end to many snappers following me never got a minutes piece [:D][:D][:D]
Looks like the real deal....then again ??

Point taken - With a car like this who needs flashes?[;)]

Yes, some curiosities here.
The license plate 'up shine' light and 'tear drop' rear lights and the reflectors are consistent with a '57 to '59 356A. However, holes in body work for ?exhaust? pipes look like post '59 coach work?, although the '58 & '59 (T2 body style) did have exhausts through the lower part of bumper guard...
...best to just arrest and ask the driver next time!

Thanks gentlemen, all I have to do now is convince dear daughter that the german car she wants is Porsche not MB! Suspect a 356 would be a little too rich for her blood, but she did like my 968 coupe.
