Cream Crackered Seats

My driver and passenger seats are past their best (I think). Any advice on what to do with them ? This is an 82SC with what i think is the berber trim i.e black plastic bolsters with seats trimmed in a grey stripe. The problem with the seats is that the plastic has parted company with the cloth in places and the seat mechanics feel a bit tired and loose.

I guess I should look out for someone upgrading to race seats . I did get quotes from Dave Nunn at Southbound for various interior work but we both agreed that given the falling values it certainly wouldn't be an investment [:D]

Depending on what happens financially I have medium term plans to get a 993 and either sell the SC or if it's worth sod all - turn it into a lightweight track car / early 911 or similar money pit !

Any thoughts welcome

Sounds like you need a hug Richard, perhaps someone else will give you one. [:)] I think SC prices have bottomed out and will eventually go the way of all Porsche, up, though due to the numbers manufactured don't expect anything spectacular. You could find a nice looking set of seat covers if cost is an issue as it sounds like a full retrim is in order. I had my seats retrimmed in leather for £600.00 the pair by the local BMW specialists. All the visible work is very good but attention to detail on the unseen places is not as good as you would get from Southbound who I rate highly. If you strip the seats yourself you could repair the mechanism and even powder-coat the visible parts.
