Cream Egg

Just won a Cream Egg from my 12yr old son !!!!!!!

Following on from my post "SPARK PLUGS" (and yes I must be tighter than a ducks rear end)

Took the car in for service on Tuesday, "Ah yes sir 4yr service plugs. tyre moose and brake fluid change (£610, £210, don't know and £150) Err no spoke to you last week remember bought TWO coils from you ! did my own spark plugs "Oh yes" and if you look at your service records the brake fluid was done Oct 08 and less than 3000 miles ago so I don't think that needs doing till Oct 10 is that right ? "Err yes Sir".

Anyway Wednesday afternoon on the way back to pick the C2s up and I get a call. "Couple of points to bring up Sir, the rear main is leaking and needs replacing, Don't worry Porsche will cover it" Oh (I say) this is the rear main I told you about within a month of purchasing the car that may have been causing the clutch judder in reverse, and has never actually dropped oil and has never got any worst in my 18 months and less than 3000 miles of ownership!
"Well sir we can do it now and Porsche will pay" What can I say but yes! " Oh Sir one of the cooling fans isn't working, Porsche may pay some but we are looking at £500+ (was told the part was £174).

So had a little wager with my son who was with me at the time, Bet you a cream egg that the OPC will be on the phone tomorrow between 10am and 3pm saying our car needs a clutch.

14:50hrs !!!!!! "Mr H your car could do with a new clutch its serviceable BUT" Hold it right there I said ~~~~~~#######~~~~~~~. "Oh the slave cylinders arm is plastic and thats worn (£200) Porsche will contribute to the cooling fan so that leave you £499 to pay.
Hang on, I complained like mad when I purchased the car, Clutch and rear main being one fault, Still waiting for Porsche to approve a paint defect on the passenger door which TWO Porsche approved bodyshops say is a original paint fault under the lacquer and now with 18 month and less than 3000 miles on the clock you want me to pay over £2000 for a service which doesn't include £500+ for the rear main.

Sorry if I seem to whine alot but isn't this in the realms of "fit for purpose" with less than 3000 miles and 18 months to have a Porsche approved vehicle that needs over £2500 spending on it seems a Little excessive to me.

Anyway just eating my cream egg with a brew

Any one want to buy a "just serviced" C2s ??

I have to say that I am starting to get a little irritated with the build quality of my 05 C2. I am taking it up to the Highlands next week and it may well be it's swansong.

I bought the car 3 years ago having done 10k miles and I have done a further 20k. Having only covered 6000 miles I had to replace the tyres and I had not given them any stick. I have had 2 engine out main seal repairs (albeit under the warranty I have paid for). On the second repair it was delivered back to me with a faulty temperature sensor which flashes all the time on my dashboard. Two weeks ago it would not start outside my daughters school having driven 30 miles to get there on a good run. Cambridge OPC confirm it is the battery and that I have done well not to have needed a new one earlier! They repaired the sensor problem whilst they had it - or I thought they had! Half way home and too late to return to the OPC it came back on again and the problem remains.

During the same period we have ran a Mercedes which has done 130k miles, has not broken down once - has needed one set of tyres and the car cost a quarter of the price of the Porsche. I have lived my dream owning a 911 but may soon be returning to reality with something built a little better.
