Crested Centre Caps

I have never seen so many crested wheel centre caps on eBay recently. Either someone has made a good copy of the Porsche originals, or there has been some overproduction somewhere!

I just bought a set from one of the foreign sellers for £42 inc P&P (not arrived yet), but a seller has appeared in the UK now. The OPC price is £133 including VAT, so some of these are a bargain (if they ARE genuine):

and not stolen...

See the 993 mirrors issue http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=307293

Scratch your reg number on back (or PCGB number) so other members can watch them circulate around.... (although a rumour that they are stolen is just what Porsche AG would want to start to keep up sales of the real thing).

This type of "extra" should be "replace free" to prevent low-life from stealing them.

I have a set of silver/black wheel centres from 18" Carrera's in the shed if anyone wants them ?

Just buy me a beer.... [:)]

Almost glad I have the silver ones!

Hi Richard,
If you are only missing the crests, I have just purchased a new crest from www.porscheshop.co.uk
All of the crests on my car have become unglued and I have used evostick and one stainless steel M3 screw and nut per crest to make sure they don't fall off again.
Best regards
Jim

Thanks Jim, but I have the black and silver ones. They seem to be getting even cheaper on eBay - someone is listing them for £6 each! I may have jumped the gun......again.

It makes little difference, but most of those are not OE caps- the OE ones are slightly dished, have a slightly smaller crest, and a circle around it. I've seen those ones though, and they're fine.

Richard,

Don't worry - you didn't jump the gun. They may be offering them for £6 each but they want £10 each to post and no postage discount for multiple purchases, so £16 each delivered.

I have the black and white shield ones and wouldn't mind coloured versions. Are the dished or flat ones the better? Large crest or smaller crest with outer ring? (Why are there so many different types anyway)

Thanks

Guy

two of mine just fell off!!

Great Glue - ing on!!! hmmmmmm

I thing Porsche AG have found a great money spinning idea. Manufacture "fall off" centres!!!

Then sell new ones at such reasonable prices!

ALEGIDLY .. (spelling)

The salesman who I dealt with actually put me off buying coloured centres as he said they fell off a lot. Obviously the OPC didn't want the grief of disgruntled customers needing replacement centres all the time.
