Croft Curcuit future under threat!!

Just seen this on the local news. Some locals had taken the curcuit to court over the noise caused by the track on race days. The court saw in favour of the residents [] the owners of the track now face a bill of more than £800,000 not to mention others that will jump on the band wagon, and race days will be cut from around 200 a day to 40!!! Is nothing sacred?

I wonder if this will affect the track days also?

I don't know how the hell they won this when the circuit has been hosting races since 1928 and when they bought there houses the track was up and running, also the people who had complained had not done so about organized events, which occur on only fifty-days of the year, but about test days and open track days so it looks like the track days are numbered

The circuit released the following statement:
Croft Promosport Ltd is extremely disappointed with the Court of Appeal's decision today in relation to the recent High Court Judgment, which has serious implications for the circuit and the motor racing industry generally.

We are reviewing the position carefully and would not wish to make any further comment at this stage.

No wonder i couldnt find any track days on the site yesterday. As if we didnt have enough depressing news.. this country sucks

Basic story is that the residents moved there as the daughter was married to one of the people who runs the circuit.

They moved there to take advantage of the circuit by building a hotel near the track

The Hotel plans never made it

The daughter and the Circuit chappie divorced at some point along the way

The Parents and Daughter start complaining about the noise.

They win

Other residents are now considering taking the circuit to court the same noise problem

Residents near other tracks have been waiting for the result of this case before proceeding against their local tracks....

[]

Defiinitely not looking good for the circuit and the whole things very smelly as excellently summarised by Mark

Here's the full judgement (if you've got some time to kill) - They could have possibly coped with the compensation payout of £150k (unless more people start bringing actions) but as said the legal costs are in the region of £800k. Lawyers must be laughing their arses off []

At least they were not successful in getting an injunction ( I read most of the case ! )
Wouldnt we love it if the circuit managed to find a way of liquidating the company (so the residents and lawyers dont get paid) and buying the circuit back from the liquidators (to ensure that events continue in accordance with the current planning permission ) - Watch this space !

This is by far out of order, surly if you dont like the nosie you wouldnt buy a house there! i live not far from there and it would be terible to see it go, i love to watch the cars coming past the house on a race day :)
