Crooked thinking or smart move?

So I had a mailing from my old opc chasing stock for their showroom floor and it got me thinking. I've a substantial house renovation to project manage this year and the 911 hasn't been out and about much recently other than on Club events (and even then the Christmas trip was tackled in the Cayenne). And the 991 is on the horizon so residuals aren't going anywhere but south. So I've done a deal with my new opc and my beloved car went today. I've put in a letter of intent for the new model, as if that means anything, with next March as target date for delivery. I hope to be tolerated on register trips as rear gunner in the Cayenne in the interim.

I managed nearly 14k miles in my two years ownership and apart from the inevitable Register Event screen and paint chips[:D], it hasn't missed a beat, there has been a couple of minor recalls, I seem to remember, but that's about it. An overall average of 26mpg with some 'spirited' driving including several European trips is impressive in my book, and there was still plenty of tread on the first set of tyres which included the Register track day.

Thoughts on the Gen 2 S pdk? As complete a sports car as I could possibly want - in the real world on normal roads the power, performance and handling is more than a match for my limited capabilities (as proved on the Silverstone GTS event yesterday!). The progress on each model from the 964 that I first had has been incremental in every area, which is why going back for a drive in a 993 for instance is such a leap. Even the 997 Gen 1 to Gen 2 is a very different car imho. Clearly the engine and pdk gearbox is brand new, but the front suspension and steering is also quite a departure in terms of behaviour and feel. I loved it. I still prefer the balance of the 2wd so will continue to keep my C2 numberplate.

As long as the next one will be red, you are forgiven![:D] Oh dear, does mean we will have the bus trying to keep up on the SW Drive though.......[&:][:D] Never mind Peter, I've done some nice written instructions to accompany the map.[:)] See you in a few weeks and hopefully you won't think you've made a big mistake!:ROFLMAO:
A glowing tribute to the car - nice.

Congratulations on the departure, Peter. [:D]

Get yurself into a Ferrari - you know it makes sense. [8|]

Regards,

Clive

It seems to make sense... but sad either way...[]
I do remember some comments from others about a rather well driven KN on the tail end of previous drives.... [:D]

Undecided on the new 911 at the moment but as Peter rightly says I'm sure it will be a step on..
I'l have to write some letters [:)]
