Also required if you don’t currently have cruise, wiring harness connection

After install, you need get the ecu recoded to recognise it too, either by dealer/Indy or someone with a coding tool

That is from a 996 rennlist forum post, but some of symptoms similar to what you had/have, 9th post from hurdigurdiman lists various symptoms of the different sensors, switches etc. Was the ‘new’ lock you fitted actually new? If it is used maybe it just has a different bad switch to the original one...
