Cruise control resume fault 987.2

My car has PDK transmission & factory fit cruise. The cruise control resume function does not work but the cruise control, set, accelerate & decelerate functions all work OK. Just wondered if anyone else has experience of this problem which I guess is either a column stalk switch issue or a problem with the ECM module forgetting the speed previously set. It’s a bit annoying but I can live with it if the repair cost is prohibitive. I’d be grateful for any suggestions. Thx

It sounds like a switch fault Mat since all the other functions are working OK. My guess is that a replacement is the simplest way out, but it would be worth getting a PIWIS or similar diagnostic check to see if anything else is amiss.

You may be able to pick up a used switch online but just make sure that the part number coincides with your component.

Worth asking your local region is anyone has access to a PIWIS (Porsche diagnostic tool) or a durametric ( 3rd parry equivalent). they should be able to at least see if the switch is registering or if the system is reporting any issues under the covers.

whereabouts are you ?

That’s a good idea. I’m in London. If anyone has access to this diagnostic tool I’d be pleased to hear from them- thanks.

London'a a big place - but I take it from your other post that you may be "near" Porsche East London. I am in Rochester in Kent, and I have access to the PIWIS tool - happy to plug it in and have a look at what (if anything) it tells us. I am probably going to the r20 out east thing on Sunday (assuming it's not raining too much) - if you happened to be going along to that I could put the tool in the car...... If not and you don't find anyone nearer then if you fancy a trip down the A2 we can arrange something.

Thanks for that offer. I’m in NE London so not a million miles from A2. The car was at Porschetech today having its corroded coolant pipes replaced. They tested the cruise switch with a voltage meter & there’s no current flowing when it’s flicked up for resume cruise. An exchange part is £320. I think I’ll look at for a used stalk on eBay- presumably this would have to be coded for the car to install successfully?

Sounds like they have nailed the issue.

i don’t think a replacement would need coding, the car knows that the stalk is there so it should be a straight swap.

Porsche made it an expensive exchange part apparently to close the door on the cheap retrofit option. For a while you could buy the stalk much cheaper from overseas but now they have made it universally harder and more expensive to buy.

you may struggle to get one second hand because of the demand for retrofitting. A few folks have got lucky from breakers in Europe apparently.

perhaps a good spray of contact cleaner or wd40 and some wiggling is a good start in case it’s just a contact issue.

good luck with it
