Cruise Control

I am thinking of having cruise control retro fitted to my C2tip - OPC says it will cost approx £600.00. Has anyone else had this done, and if so, any problems?[:-]

For 987/997 cars....

You can buy the stalk from the OPC for around £120, and a new steering column lower cowling for anything from £35 to £150 dependent upon whether its plain plastic or leather covered. you need a few extra screws and a wiring loom if its an early car 54/05 plate.

Takes about an hour to install yourself, and then you have to persuade the OPC to configure it for you in a couple of control modules. Normally about £60 for the priviledge.

If you fit yourself you will no doubt invalidate your warranty come the time you have any electrical issues.

There was a good article posted elsewhere that had the part numbers and instructions in it - i'll try to find it.

Your OPC can retrofit - I have seen prices from £350 to £450 quoted. If you go that way don't forget they should give a discount to PCGB members.

This is a very easy upgrade, did mine myself (gen 1 C2s) bought the control arm online fitted it then took it to my local inde to upgrade the onboard computer to recognise the upgrade and it works perfectly. The arm cost me about £30 used (nearly new) and £30 to update the computer. the only thing is the lower steering cowling which needs to be replaced or modified, did the cowling myself and you can't tell the difference. Total upgrade cost £60

Very many thanks. OPC / Indy cost is about £350 inlcuding part. Nice to know it can be done DIY.

Yes, OPC Nottingham did it for me on my Cayman in June 2011.

List price was £611, with PCGB 10% discount on parts it came down to £564 and a special offer at the time made it £399.
