CS Rear seats

Has anyone out there converted their 968 CS so that the rear seats can be used?

I appreciate that I will have to replace the front bucket seats with 944/968 folding seats, but would appreciate advice on fitting seat belts etc in the rear.

Yes you have guessed it, this is a lame attempt to convert the CS to a familly car![:D]

Should be possible - are the seat bases not already in place under the rear "cover"?

One thing to watch is Insurance - the CS was homologated without rear seats, and you might find interesting issues with the Insurance company with putting them back in. There is a thread in one of the other forum areas about this - 964/993 or GT3 (can't remember which but a search should throw the tread up)

Given the complexity and cost of doing this, plus the possible insurance issue above, it might make more sense to sell the CS and buy a Sport, which is after all a CS with rear seats and belts pre-fitted. There are a few nice low mileage Sports around, and there is always a market for a good CS.

Just a thought.

Whats the year / spec of the CS?

I might know someone who'd swap their Sport ( CS with seats ) for a nice CS!

I have just put sport seats in my CS and it has transformed my enjoyment of the car. I use it daily and the buckets were not ideal. You also sit lower in the car with the sport seats.

The only problem is finding them. I know of someone who may swap his sport seats for buckets. The only downside of doing this is if you want to sell the CS because the seats are part of the appeal for many.

In an ideal world I would prefer to keep the CS as although it is now relatively high mileage, it has got the M030 pack and is a stunning bit of kit!![:D] (although speed yellow with decals is not to everyones taste!! [8|])

Andrew...have you gone the whole hog then and taken out the "parcel shelf" in the rear and put "seats" in the back or have you just replaced the buckets so far?

Will

I have only replaced the front seats and will probably leave it at that, my kids are probably too young for the car and would mean new car seats etc.

The otherhalf still hasnt got over me buying the sport seats so new car seats would be asking way too much [:D]

Are you a member of the 968UK forum? One of the members works for Recaro and has just brought a CS and put some rather tasty seats in it. They are a good compromise between plenty of grip and comfort. They also look amazing.

I would presume that the rear seats out of any 924 944 should fit (don't quote me though [8D]) so presumably you could get a set from any of the Porsche breakers. Our new friend James from Recaro (mentioned above) is proving to be a very valuable addition to the 968 community. Remember the word "discount" when talking to him [:D]

Will

I have just had an email offering me those sport seats, they will be available early December.

Do you want his details?

Cheers

Andrew

Thanks for the offer, although I would be looking to keep the bucket seats, so a swap would not be an option.

I have been lurking on the 968UK forum, but had not spotted that thread. I am not sure that SWMBO would be too keen on me spending £500 per seat just to allow the nipper to get in the back!![:D]

I believe that 924 and 944 seats have the same fittings, so presumably could be fitted to the CS, so as John suggested I may be raiding the breakers yard for a set of front and rear seats.[;)]
