CS sold at 911virgin

I noticed that this CS didn't hang around long at 911virgin - a good sign that good ones are shifting quickly at the moment? I think this car looks great - Porsches are one of the few cars that look good in white. Its a shame they never put the mileage on their adverts, it would make a better indicator of price for us all. I have forgotten how much it was up for, maybe 13K?

I seem to remember it was £14k - all very encouraging. The red one at Autobahn didn't hang around either.

Pity I missed that one []

I think Im focusing on James car too much and missing everything else.

It was a nice car, but maybe a bit more than you wanted to pay? I think you have got to be quick off the mark with good ones at the moment. It might be worth speaking to a few indy dealers and telling them what you want - that way you might get advance warning of something coming up. Dealers would rather have someone lined up for a car than have to bother advertising it - thats exactly what happened to me when I bought mine. I just dropped in on spec and there was a yellow CS there (the famous original PCGB one) and there was a guy coming from the other end of the country to see it that afternoon. He hadn't put a deposit on it and the dealer said if I wanted to, I could have it (talk about pressure, I wasn't comfortable about rushing anyway!). The guy turned up while I was still there and bought it. Two days later the dealer called me with the details of another - the one I eventually bought. I put a deposit down on it straight away - after the deal was done, he told me that two other people had been in line for it too. If you are going to buy from a specialist, I think that is the way to go, to get a good car.

Call Ray Northway (just off J12 M4) as well as Henry Firman (911virgin) - they might be able to help, and are local for you.

Hartech have a CS listed as 'just in' on their website - no details yet though.

Might be worth giving them a bell - it probably won't be cheap but it should be good.

Thanks Alex, I will have a look.

If James is as good as he says it is I will buy it, even if I have to pay his asking price. I was meant to be going to see it today, but his parents are away for the weekend, so now its next week. You have seen his car havent you? Is it as good as James says it is? I'm getting itchy feet![]

Glenn, I have seen it and it is very nice, but I think you have to set a realistic price YOU are happy with and walk away if you can't get it for that.

I would look at it this way: it's almost identical to the car Mike's just bought for £8k. IMO anything over £10k for a LHD car is too much, unless it has something special like M030 or super low mileage. You may not mind LHD but it will be harder to sell, so should be reflected in the price you pay.

I don't know how good the black CS at Autobahn is (did you see it Mike?) but it's about the same price, and of course it's RHD and presumably comes with a warranty.

Thanks Alex

James is pretty determined to get £12k or thereabouts for the car. I can understand that he wants a good price considering what he has spent, the condition he says its in and its history, but there is a limit. Ive told him I want a mint original condition car and he says his is that. I don't want one thats had any paint as Ive had bad experiences in the past (with 911s).

For 12K I'd be looking for a RHD, as Alex said the black one at AutoBahn would be worth looking at IIRC less than 100K on the clock and in very nice condition.

Also don't forget that red one on Pistonheads, might be worth a call as its been around for some time and it might be negotiable.

Worth keeping your options open.

Mike

How about this? May be a bit much for the mileage, but looks ok...11.5K

Mike

I would love to find a RHD for that money, but cant see that happening. LHD doesnt bother me, but condition does. Im not looking for a 'concours' car but I do want one thats original and mint. Which means LHD unless I want to pay £15-18k. The red one on Pistonheads sold within a week...!

Where is the red one David? Those back seats would have to go...

Glenn,

The red one David posted is at Shirley's of Meriden:

The one on Pistonheads had the full M030 kit as I recall, which adds about £2-3k to the price, so it's not really comparable. (Incidentally I believe it's the same one featured in this month's PP).

Hang in there... your dream car is out there somewhere [:)]

Thanks Alex for adding the location......durrr...it was late when I posted that, sorry Glenn!
