CS Steering Wheel Horn Pad

Hi Guys,

I just fitted a new (from OPC) CS wheel to my S2.

Unfortunately, 2 of the plastic hooks on the plate that clips the horn pad to the wheel snapped off in the process.

2 Questions:

Is there some trick to getting the pad off the wheel without these things snapping?
How can I source a replacement (I think Porsche only offer the whole pad)?

I did some research and found a link to the Atiwe part on fvd.net - but its page not found.

Ive included a pic of the broken part below.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Ian

It just pulls off Ian, rather unfortunate a brand new one has broken. I would take this up with OPC as this should not have happened unless you set about it like a tramp eating chips!!

Hi Stuart,

I like the tramp joke - but I thought I was remarkably careful actually.

I approaced my OPC and they said they can actually order that part from Germany - for £9.19 + VAT

Might be our old friend plastic degradation. This might be a contemporary part, sitting on a shelf since early '90s! Check the moulding...they mostly have a date code on them. Plasticiser migration causes brittleness! OPC's replacement part might be the same age...treat with care.

This is an obsession for me...snap on speaker grilles keep falling off, £89 each! I need to repair the digital clock but just know that the fascia trims will shatter! Grrr...

Yep, the small tab on the end of the long strip that tucks behind the heater panel breaks if you breathe on it []

About £45 when I did mine!

All the dash trims are made of ABS, can be hot welded or stuck back together with Lego bricks melted in acetone

Thanks...nice to know it's ABS. Perhaps not so subject to brittleness?
Might even risk a clock repair this year (but will order the fascia trim first!!)
