CTEK Chargers

Having cut the loop end of the lead (rather than using the clip version) so they fit over the bolts on the battery terminals, can anyone tell me if it is safe with the CTEK to attach the negative lead direct to the negative lead on the battery rather than somewhere on the bodywork as you would do normally. Would appreciate some guidance.
Thanks guys

Technically is better as you are less likely to get any resistance from a bad earth connector, I would always try to go direct onto the battery.

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]Yep, directly to the battery works great with my 3600. The mini rubber socket [FONT=verdana, geneva"][FONT=verdana, geneva"]and leads[FONT=verdana, geneva"][FONT=verdana, geneva"] are permanently attached to the terminal posts and up through the side of the carpet. Plugged in every time the car is in the garage.

Which C-Tek charger do you guys find is the best?

Ive got the Porsche version, but never really use it as it doesnt have a quick release connector.

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]I've had this one for about a year now and it's plugged into the car all the time it's in the garage. I can thoroughly recommend it!

Looks very similar to the ALDI one I bought a few weeks ago [:)] - look there if you want a "tesco-value" alternative.

Thanks guys, I knew you'd come up with the answer. It was a simple question but I just wanted to make sure from the safety viewpoint. Mines a 3600 and been using the mini jack clips for the last couple of years but it's such a faff each time to set it up which is why I'm changing to the permanent fixings to the battery. Simple plug in each time then; can't think why I havn't done it before. This is the best battery charger I've had, connect it up and forget about it - just check it every three or four days.

I use a CTEK7200 as I often leave the car for 2 weeks and my car is on the street so I cant leave it plugged in permanently. The 7200 will fully charge the battery overnight, after two weeks of standing. I use one of these connected directly to the battery: http://www.vertar.com/battery-chargers-conditioners/battery-charger-accessories/optimate-accumate-weatherproof-fused-eyelet-lead/

I actually extended the lead using some wire bought from Maplin, so I could leave it ouside the car permanently (see pic).

I have just seen this new product - might be handy as well:
