cup 1 or twist style wheels?

I have cup 1 alloys fitted on my Lux and have always fancied the twist turbo type alloys, so I bought some this weekend.Ive fitted them on the drivers side to see what they look like and Im not so sure now as the cup1s fill the arches nicely where as the twists dont do so as much.
My questions are1. which ones are more prefered/stylish by everyone and2.is it just a case of spacers needed behind the wheels in order to fill the arches better.
cheers
Alan

This has to be one of those purely personal taste posts of course but I think if you took an average then Cup ones are the most popular retro fit Porsche 944 wheels ( I.E non original)

One thing for me is that the turbo twists are just too modern looking for a classic car where as the cup ones get away with modernising the look without looking stupidly modern if that makes sense.

Like everyone I am of course biased [:D]

16" Cup1's (as per ukmastiff's image) do nothing for me.

Conversely I think 17" Cup1's look fantastic, and approximately 87.94x better than Cup3's.

Yes I have 17" Cup 1's - my previous car had 17" Cup 3's/Turbo twists. Think I prefer the 1's personally

I think the cups do look better I had some 17" copies on my 1st 944 and I think it looked great, but DHX still looked good on the twists.

Come on Rav post a photo up!

I think the Boxster twists look better than the turbo twists. The Cup 1's look great as well. Alan - if I were you i'd stick with your Cup 1's and put some trackday tyres on the turbo twists.

My cups are 17" can I ask Suffolk, did your twists have spacers for the wheels to fill the edge of the arches like the cup 1s or were they not so chunky/

No they didn't have spacers, they were actually Milie Miglia (sp ?) replicas designed for early offset non-ABS cars and so filled the arches without the need for spacers. I know Rav was thinking of changing them for some 16" Teledials, no idea if he ended up doing that or not.

Wheels are absolutely a matter of personal taste. Some things which people dribble over make me cringe and vice versa. Personally my favourite wheels on a lux would probably be Fuchs with black centres. Of all the cup wheels the Cup 2's are in my mind the smartest and my favourite wheels on the turbo shape car are the original deep dish teledials which I'm very pleased to say I finally have again:)

That said I absolutely loved the wheels on my old lux:

Mine are these very same type however they dont seem to fill the arches as fully as the cups do

Hmm not sure then because as you can see from the pics of DHX they filled her arches up rather nicely !

16" cups on mineand I have to agree I'm also of the opinion that the twists look a little to modern for the '44, but they do look very nice

The twists have about an inch or so less on the wheel thickness where it bolts to the hub.I put the cups back on today and the arch is filled up nicely.Still like the twists though.....if they filled the arch as much as the cups[&o]

That Lux fairly unique - a 1984 vintage yet sports a "turbo" badge. Obviously you wouldn't stick a turbo badge on a normally-aspirated car unless you were a Saxa / Corsa wannabee [:)] so what was it powered by?

Further investigation it appears that I need the spacers with the stud extensions on them in order to fill the wheel arch.Has anybody got experience with this please?
cheers
Alan

I used 7mm shims on the front, and "proper" bolt-on 15mm spacers on the rear of the S2. Purely for cosmetic reasons - to push the std D90 wheel faces to approximately the same position in the arches as a set of std Turbo D90s.

They work fine - didn't give me any issues - but they're not cheap.
