Hi, just recently joined the site. I have found the articles very helpful. Can anyone recommend me a good wheel refurbishers in the Bedfordshire/Bucks area? I have found a few places that do this but want a good job done, not just a spray over?

Many thanks Michael.

Michael,

In your area, THE place to go is Pristine Wheel Refurbishers in Woburn Sands. They will do a full strip and repaint to "as new" condition. Thoroughly recommended.

Many thanks, I do have the contact number for them. Do you have an idea how much I will be looking at for 17Inch cups? I would like a complete stip and recoating?

Thanks Michael..

It depends a little on what paint finish you choose. The "standard" Pristine silver is likely to be around £50 per wheel but they'll do a good job of selling the advantages of "Porsche" silver - which is, in all honesty, a slightly nicer finish and that is more likely to be around £70 a wheel.

Talk to Russell - he's the manager there - but he won't give you a price over the phone because he'll want to see the state of the wheels in terms of damage in order to assess what repairs might be needed before he'll commit to a price.

Tell him I sent you!! He'll probably put the price up!!

Regards

Dave

Dave.

Many thanks for the information. I will give him a call for some more information and take the car over to the workshop for a firm quotation. The Porsche finish does sound better, as long as it looks like an original fininsh I do not mind.

Regards Michael..

Dave,

Hi again! Now for the big question. I am sorting out the refurbishment for the wheels now I would like to hear the pros and cons of fifferent tyre manufactures. I believe that the Pirelli Pzero would be a good choice? I have heard of some alternatives such as continentals but would like some advise on the subject. Tyres would be for road use only (no track use required)

On the question of wheels and tyres, could some body tell me if it would be OK to use the original space saver tyre when I am running on 17 inch wheels on a Carrera 4? I believe that you must be very careful not to damage the four wheel drive system in case of a punture/deflation etc?[:)]

Many thanks Michael..
