On Tom Schmitz´ homepage there´s a series of pics of a Cup car restoration:

Maybe interesting,

Thanks Hacki, interesting to see the detail of it completely stripped down.

Nice car, but not too sure about what they've recovered the steering wheel with. [;)]

Is that what looks like a stone guard for the disks? They didnt put those on cup cars did they? I dont think I've got them on the Clubbie? In fact I'm sure I havent, or am I going blind!

They didn't Hugh.....and did you notice the fan on the oil radiator????[:(]

Can only but assume these are concessions for a road legal car.....

Thanx for sharing Hacki!

And Jarier only has one 'r'......MMI is his events business....

The body looks good from the photos but you really need to see it in the flesh. Some of the finer detail is incorrect. I wonder what its on for? My guess is €150k. Does anyone on here know?

Whilst on the subject of Cup cars, a 1991 signal green car has come up on mobile.de for €138k (with lots of incorrect spec). Surely the bubble is about to burst?

FWIW my 993 Cup does have the back plates and after trying without, i had a front rad fan fitted [ manual operated] unlike Mel i drive to and from track days and it was impossible without seeing the red on gauge ............with fan ,no prob

Mine went through a differnt German rebuilder ..............BTW anyone wanting to offer me Eu 150 for it would get it .............promise , choice with or without race livery [:D]

As Damen said, a lot of "modifications".

The car was displayed in Essen last year for 148k EUR, the owner said that he didn´t really want to sell it. Maybe he´s testing the water now.
Really original Cup cars with matching numbers and books should be north of 100k EUR, but they are hard to find. If anybody wants a virgin Cup car, the German dealer Ande Votteler has got a rubystone one. Not sure, if it´s for sale.

IIRC the factory installed the fan on mine when they made it street legal in 1992. Seems to be a must as Vic says.

Interesting thread, and no I didnt spot the fan. Kind of suprised its not been put back to 100% original, but as you say maybe required for road use.

Appears good value....those far sighted enough would
look on it as an investment.....

Mel

At that price it's not only an investment but good value too. If the work is to a high standard, and there is no reason for me to think otherwise, then it won't have been cheap to do all the works. So, mid £80k sounds like a cracking deal.

On the subject of fans, mine doesn't have one and it has never got really hot, not even in heavy traffic in the centre of London!!!

Sounds like a nice car. The French used these cups (from the French 964 Cup championship) in their race driving schools so I suspect that some of them will come on to the market either very cheap (with all refurb to be done) or priced as this one.

Likewise the Belgian gendarmes used G-model Carrera targa both on the road as interception cars and also in their driving schools. The chassis of these weaker 911 targas became so soft due to repetitive torsion that, in curves, they were lifting one front wheel up to an impressive height--yes, just like a mutant dog takin a pish. I know, off topic, tired today [:D][:D]

I did 'nt think cup cars had hand break levers either.

Vic, you offered yours for €150, I 'll be fair and offer you €200. In fact I've got that in my wallet now ( ireland you see ).

You left out a K or many noughts !

All 964 Cups came from the factory with the handbrake lever. However, they were not all connected or had the mechanism/pads in the rear hubs.

Gentlemen, if you were to do a thorough search, you would find very cheap s964 cups these days--in euros. I spotted one for 35k euros recently. I am serious.

are Irish Euros still worth the same as the rest ?

My old trading habits die hard, Eu 150 is my short form known as the 'big' figure ............add noughts to taste ........................although tongue in cheek, 125 000 wud do just now if ur wallet is overflowing and u need to unload some ..............as ur from over the water Eu Or Pounds sterling ur choice
