CUP MIRRORS fitting a 944

petem

Right and I know this is a tediously repetitive question on the forum but my questions are

1) Do the mirrors bolt straight on? or do you need base plates or different mirror mounting plates?

2) Are they easy to wire up? to get them moving and the heating element on.

3) If extras are required, where can you get them from?

Thanks all!

Simple. RHD 968 mirrors are a straight swap, easy to do. Most are stolen, often off a 911 and won't fit. Avoid certain auction sites. And, they aren't much use as mirrors without curved glass, when I looked it was £120 plus VAT for the glass. Happy to be back with the proper mirrors, although I do appreciate they look lovely. OK So I see you need RHD 968 base plates. Anyone know where I could get a hold of a set of these?

Porsche Centre. Or, a recognised breaker, but you'll pay through the nose for them.

Base plates are supplied with 944 Cup mirrors, but mounts are a different shape (less frontal area) to standard/968 teardrops, so a bit of door-polishing is needed 2) Are they easy to wire up? to get them moving and the heating element on. >cup mirrors aren't powered, unless you consider digits/opposing thumb on your upper extremities part of the system.. 3) If extras are required, where can you get them from? >Extras?! 944 Cup mirrors and 968 mirrors arent the same thing. The Cup mirrors cost an absolute fortune now, although they were a cheap part from low spec 924s originally. The tops are still cheaply available, its the bases which are unique.

I based my answers on the assumption the OP meant the 944 Cups, [link=http://sqirl.midsun.co.uk/f1gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=606&g2_serialNumber=1]these [/link][:D]

Well it appears I have purchased 911 mirrors http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270518650309#ht_500wt_1182 So now I need to get 968 base things?

Teardrops, indeed. Most people call them "cup", hence the confusion. Best bet would be to call Exeter Porsche Centre for a price new, I don't know if they come separately but at least then you'll know, and have a guide price. I'm always dubious about recommending buying these from anywhere except one of the recognised breakers. They were being stolen to order in London a few years ago as they were fetching about £200 on e-bay then, not something to be encouraged. I know I sound like a miserable old git though! [:D]

They still are! - See postings last year on 993 forum. I see these ones are black - probably the ones from my car - [] When my car spent 6 years in London, history contains 3 invoices for replacement sets of mirrors. Don't buy 993 mirrors on flea-bay! (please!)

Well they are local (NI) so Id put good money on them being 100% legit Anyway Anyone got part numbers for the base plates?
