Hi guys ,I'm a newbie on here this is my first post so here goes! I've got a boxter s 986 which Ive been considering customising ,iit's currently seal grey which I like but would like to wrap it riviera blue and colour code the interior,iI would also fit new veloce wheels and a new rear spoiler. Recently I've read that this would comprise it's value but I would return it to its original spec should I want to sell it.So to conclude I guess I want to personalise my car but need advice and opinions, appreciate any help guys regards....Art

I'm a newbie round these parts as well, but I think I know this forum well enough that most of the guys and gals here aren't not into customising their cars to such a degree. I could be wrong, but I don't expect many replies !!!

Hi Art
At the end of the day it's your car & your going to be driving it, so it's nobody else's business
surely if your happy with it that's all that matters
hope it turns out ok for you & just enjoy driving it
cheers
steve

customising is ok if you do it in such a way that you can put it back easily. i have done some work on my boxster spyder, full martini graphics as on the 918 spyder. those are just stickers so will come off as will your wrap. i have replaced the bucket seat centers with red alcantara as it is just velcroed on and easily put back. then there is the 3 lower dash sections and 2 end plates, i bought extra ones from ebay and recovered those in red alcantara so i can replace the origional ones in about 1 hour. then on to the center arm rest yet again a replacement from ebay recovered in red alcantara. floor mats in red with embroidered martini racing on it, love those. that leaves the gear knob, gator and door handles. gear knob again off ebay and half recovered in red so now it is red and grey with gator and handles off ebay still to do. i worked out i could replace all the bits in one day so not a problem come time to sell if it is just too much for some one else

Why not, it's your car do it how you feel comfortable with it. If all cars were the same look how boring it would be??

Wrap will reduce its value as everyone can but wonder why and whats underneath.

Be careful who you use, a decent wrapper will cost c£1000+ and should be removing mirrors, lights etc and not cutting around things. There is something cheaper called Plasti dipping thats sprayed on vinyl see link http://www.oxfordperformanceautos.com/wrap2.html

Costs about £500 to remove. Ive done one myself it took 3 days to remove left a lot of glue behind, took some paint of and had to respray 70% of the car. I t had been on for about 5 years.

Thanks for the replies chaps,I think I'm going to go ahead with the changes which I don't think are ott, after all it will be a porsche colour either riviera blue or or orange. The insperation coming from my recent visit to Althorpe seeing all the great colours, the wheels will be either veloce or my favorite fuchs and a rear spoiler no body kit.The colour scheme continuing into the cockpit ,and it will be done to a high standard and as I said in my first post returned to its original state should I want to sell.Once again thanks for your help.....regards art
