CV Boot replacement

Hello,
Does anyone have experience in replacing the inner CV boot?
Specifically does it mean removing the driveshaft from the car or is it possible to do with driveshaft in situ and simply disconnecting the inner CV joint from gearbox drive flange? If the latter then it looks awfully tight.
If the answer is to remove driveshaft then can you use a generic scissor type ball joint remover to separate control and track arms from the wheel bearing housing or do you really need porsche special tool 9560?

thanks in advance
Andrew

dont know but if one end is split then the rest probably are or soon will be, i had inners and outers fitted at the same time, about a 3 hour job and involved removing some other parts on my 986S as well IIRC.
Northways did mine for me, the parts were £77 + vat
