? CV joint thump.

I've owned a 996 C2 Cab 3.4 for 16 years. It had 50k miles when I got it and its now at 90k. It had a full Hartech inspection and top end rebuild 10 years ago and is generally in good nick all round. So now I want to address an annoying little niggle. When changing up through the gears during hard acceleration there is a jolt and a thump when releasing the clutch quickly. This can be avoided by feathering the clutch release. It doesnt occur under gentle acceleration or changing down and in all other respects, the car drives well. Its been there for ages and does not seem to be getting worse over time. I'm assuming its wear in the CV joints but this has never been picked up in any service or MOT. Can anyone shed any light on this? I have driven a similar age C4 which did not do it. Thanks!

I recently changed the engine mounts on my c4 which has improved the overall feel of the transmission. The clutch assembly could require cleaning and greased or replacing. Many aspects could contribute to feel of transmission over time.

Good shouts. Thank you.
I'll get those things checked at next service and feedback
