D90 Wheels Colour?

had a little kerb incident. not big but enough to scrape paint and annoy. So rubbed down and primed the wheel. Then went to Halfords and bought silver wheel paint. Sprayed away and very pleased with result. When I put the wheel back on the paint is definitely a couple of shades darker. Is there a specific paint colour for a D90 wheel? thanks, Ian

I assume the wheels are sprayed, lacquered and baked so the odds on getting a good match from a Hellfrauds spray can are remote. Even if the colour was comparable the specular effects cause by the lacquer will make the base colour look different.

Also, unless you have had the car for 15 years plus and know otherwise, it is very likely that a set of 1991 wheels has at some stage been refurbed anyway.

Yes they had been refurbed, I was just hoping there is an actual colour refrence which matched a bit better.

Is there any such thing as "Standard" in Germany. I am sure it will have a specification as long as your arm.

I've heard in many places that its 'wurth silver alloy paint' that is the standard alloy paint used on all german cars.

Yes there is a specific colour for these wheels, but its known by different names by different people, Lepsons call it flat silver. My Smartwheel repairer called it German silver. Not much help I know...

I have found and ordered the Wurth geman silver spray. I will see how that looks, got to be better than what I have. That will teach me to kerb a wheel.
