Daft Question, but have to ask - 718 third party exhaust

As Porsche very quietly dropped the standard sports exhaust from the MY22 base 718 and it cannot be bought as an option. When I picked mine up in January I was told it came on with the sport button Which I thought was very strange. After listening I noticed no sport exhaust was implemented and then I got confirmation from Porsche it was dropped for noise pollution reasons.

So after a little YouTube viewing I found some very nice sounding replacement exhausts.

I assumed that these would void any warranty until I spoke to a friend with an Aston Martin who just changed his exhaust and the dealer said it’s pretty normal and we still warranty it as it’s classed almost like a consumable.

My experience with Porsche and warranty, I can’t imagine for one second they would approve of a third party exhaust.

Anybody had any experience of third party exhausts?

There’s nothing to prevent you from fitting an aftermarket cat-back exhaust Jason, but who knows what would happen if you had some sort of engine problem? You’d have to put up a very robust case that it wasn’t due to your non-standard exhaust … good luck with that! I think you’d be on your own there.

Probably best to stick with what you have until the car‘s out of factory warranty and then decide what to do. Incidentally, I think that it would be even more of a problem if you chose to have the Porsche Extended Warranty which is provided by a third party and which excludes the use of any nonstandard items … including the battery!

Personally I think that in a coupe you’re less likely to get the full benefit of a modified exhaust than with a roadster, and most of the sound is for the benefit of those outside the car.
