Daily use to Weekend Only Advice

Well after bad news of being made redundant when I got back from Christmas and thinking I would have to sell my 964 [:(]

I start a new job in May with 150 mile round trip everyday, so my 964 will be weekend use only, which in 20 years I have never done with my cars as they were always used daily [:)]

So is there anything to look out for, maybe a silly question but hoping some of you that only use your car for minimal use can advise.

Thanks

Mark

Mark,

Good news that you're keeping the car at least!!

My only advice is to invest in a battery conditioner. It's pretty unlikely that your battery is going to go flat over the course of only a week but, just in case you don't get to drive it EVERY weekend, the battery conditioner gives you great peace of mind that your baby WILL start next time you want to use it.

Good luck with the new job too.

Regards

Dave

You could do as I do, make sure when you use it, do it well. Make sure all the temps are red hot, make sure you don't leave it sopping wet after a wash, run it after to ensure the disks do not go rusty. Use all the systems make sure they function properly heating venting etc.....
I use mine only at weekends, because of work, but when I do I make sure its used well.......I don't have too many issues with mine. 103k and counting.

Hi Mark

Glad to hear about your job and that you can keep the 964.

I mainly use mine at the weekends, stored outside under a cover.
The only issue I have is if it's left any longer than two weeks the battery runs low on juice to get started. I've had to recharge twice in two winters. Other than that, no issues with using at weekends only.
Like Kevin says try and dry off completely after washing as the discs rust easily if you haven't been for a run after washing.

I did install a main battery switch this winter due to the fact I wasn't using for a lot of the time and I haven't got the facility to use a conditioner.
