Damn, Lost 2 Gears today....

Luckily they were the sunroof gears. Took 10 minutes to get to the gears, pulled them out and they need replacing, so ordered them (£17 or something like that). Cleaned everything else up with degreaser (cover the seats, people). Replacement job is very simple to do which is good news and gave me time to use a touch up pen around the sunroof insert area. Lovely!!!

Will fit the gears over next weekend and then I'll have a full working sunroof (didn't realise until today that my sunroof has never gone fully up)

I replaced mine yesterday for the third time.

I eventually re-read the Clark's garage guide on the topic and realised that it was the clutch not slipping that was causing the cogs to strip when I retracted the sunroof arms into the body to take the roof out. Apparently the clutch on the motor is supposed to slip when the retracting arms reach the roof and all is well. Over time though for some reason the clutch hangs on and keeps tugging the arms down toward the car stripping the plastic cogs. Worth the extra work to adjust the tension on the clutch to ensure you don't strip the next set of cogs, just like I did.... Good luck!
