Dangerous?

Thought these things were designed for tough usage, off- roading, towing and the like.
Like most, ours has done none of these things but merely been used as a shopping trolley.
After less than 37,000 miles the rear anti-roll bar snapped, probably fortunate that I was
travelling slowly. Out of guarantee but Porsche, after being pushed by my dealer friends,
have contributed a rather poor £508 towards a replacement cost of £2,154.
As a serial Porsche buyer, and indeed this is our third Cayenne, now beginning to question my loyalty.
Not sure where this leads us but worth being aware. Moan over.
 
Our problem in the UK is that we really have no worthwile consumer protection
just talk of it .This would not happen in the US as was demonstrated when we had
all the Engine problems with MB . They got theirs fixed we got nothing .
 
I'd need to check, about £1k pa. But it is very thorough and includes Porsche Assist. I had an EGF valve go this year which was replaced under warranty - no hassle, car collected and returned with loan car offered. Would have cost about £1.5k if I was paying.

Im very interested in your post as i am driving a Cayenne diesel registered Jan 2013. I have covered apprx 41500 miles. I am in my third year warranty now and have had no issue,s with the car.
My car is equipped with the air suspension, could you please advise what year your car is and what suspension it has fitted. Would it be possible for you to advise on the breakdown of your bill , say parts and labour. Did you get any photos of the damaged anti roll bar ie where did it break , was it a clean break or was there corrosion involved.
I would be as disappointed as you with so little miles on your vehicle. These cars are not cheap and i think it is an absolute disgrace this was not replaced FOC. I would be writing to Porsche as talking sometimes is not enough.
As your post states "Dangerous" , I drive my Porsche Cayenne in Sport mode often and really use the car on B class roads as it handles as good as my 991s. This worries me because if this anti roll bar breaks coming into corners at speed etc etc where will i end up.
I really believe we need some reply from your Porsche friends on this issue. I intend to take this up with my OPC immediately. Look forward to your response.

Only just seen your posting.
My car V8 turbo, air suspension, reg Nov. 2010.
Labour £276 rest parts. Cannot answer the other questions although the dealer had photos for Reading. Regards.

Thanks for the info, it certainly is an expensive item. I relayed my concern thru my OPC. He is not aware of any issue with Anti Roll bars but he is going to check it out with Porsche Technical and get back to me. Keep you informed

Was in my OPC a few days ago and here is the latest. They are not aware of any Anti Roll Bar issues in the Standard Cayenne Diesel with Air Suspension, but he says that your car suspension in the Turbo S is different as it has PDCC as well as PASM etc etc. PDCC is directly related to the anti roll bars as it reduces roll. My last visit to the Porsche Driving Experience at Silverstone i drove a 991 with PDCC and a 991 without PDCC, the difference was unbelievable, with PDCC i was able to drive the car on the limit into corners at much higher speeds without oversteer or the tail end out. Brilliant
