dansk exhaust

It turns out I have some relatively new Dansk mufflers on my 993 4S.

I've done some web searching on these and from the little I have read they have a good reputation, good quality etc.

I was wondering if anyone else has these on their 993 and could comment on their breathing/bhp or general qualities? - my only subjective feeling so far is they're 'boom-ier' at lower revs and the car seems flatter in the low and mid range and good up top..... though this may be as the car hasn't been remapped, which I plan to do anyway.

PS - does anyone know the Dansk web address?

NB: I have posted this question on rennlist to catch as much info as I can - I'm in two minds whether to change these back to OEM obviously as some cost.

Thanks

Kenny,

I have just bought a 993 C2S with standard exhaust and wanted to get a better sound but not go overboard. Strasse in Leeds recommended the Dansk mufflers and said the engine would certainly not need remapping. I phoned a couple of other independant dealers who told me the same. Sounds as if it may not be re-mapping needed though I guess one of the independants would give you better advice than me.

I am due to have the Dansk mufflers fitted in a week or so but would be put off if the sound was too boomy/resonating. I previously had a 996 with Porsche Sports exhaust and that was an amzing sound. Is the Dansk system that bad?

Cheers

Funny, how we all seem to be thinking of exhaust mods, I am looking at the RSR mufflers at Carnewal, Gert, does them for 400 Euros with yours in exchange.

I just waht my car to sound a bit deeper..... drown out the wifes screaming.

But I would be interested in the cost of the Dansk exhaust.

The Dansk mufflers are £750 so not cheap but I was told were good. Again the other benefit was supposed to be that remapping wasn't needed. Also the sound would be much better but not obtrusive (so you may still be able to hear the wife screaming!)

I'll let you know once I have had them fitted assuming Kennyboy doesn't put me off with horror stories of being prematurely deafened.

My apologies - especially to you Lee...

.. it's amazing how a few days driving can change your subjective feeling about something.

I'm now delighted with the Dansks! - the 'supposed' flat spot doesn't exist and was just me getting used to a varioram 993 again and the extra weight of a 4S compared to my last 993 C2.

The 'booming' at low revs is actually throughout the rev range and, again after putting more miles on, I now realise is down to the motorsound airbox I had fitted... and it's not a boomi sound really, just the intended extra induction sound.

And yes people have described them perfectly here - they are top quality and remarkably similar to standard in sound - just a touch louder and a touch rortier... no resonance and no flatspots..

OEM motorsound tips also fit nicely on and can be aligned up properly - thanks Strasse.

I'd buy them again if I bought another 993 - and I may be getting carried away but I'm sure I feel a bit more power at the top end, though the remap is still scheduled perhaps after some sports cats.

Lee I noticed you replied to my post in the Yorkshire forum - if you're near Leeds perhaps come and have a look/listen to mine yourself?

Cheers

Mind now put at rest - thanks.

I'm in Yorshire and work in Leeds everyday so would love to take you up on your offer - a sort of try before you buy!

Do you want to email me which I think you can do from the Forum and we can sort something out.

Thanks for the offer again.
