Quick question chaps:

Is everyone OK with an afternoon start on Friday 19th? i.e. can everyone take the afternoon off?

I was thinking of meeting at Reading services on the M4 westbound at around 4pm.

See you at the concours.

Cheers

James

It is fine my me, have already booked the day off.

I was thinking of the A303 then A38 as a route rather than M4 then M5. Just a more scenic route.

The A303/ A38 route is more scenic I'll grant you but after years of trips to Devon I've developed a strong aversion to using it due to all the bottlenecks. I figure we'll just get to Okehampton as quickly as possible and get our fix of scenery on the Saturday and Sunday.

Apologies for butting in, but another word of caution re the A303 - years ago I used to use it all the time because it was less boring, and often quicker, than the M4/M5 option, however now I do avoid it unless I am travelling particularly early or late; it really is too busy these days and often grinds to a halt in places. The M5 slows down but does generally keep moving...

Hope you all have a good time while you are down here [:)].

James - don't know how well you know the roads in Somerset/North Devon? Depending what the weather is like on the way down there is the option of leaving the motorway early and going cross country to Okehampton (taking in some of my favourite roads). If you want any info about this or anything you are planning which brings you up towards North Devon let me know. I'll try and remember to post if the council decide to sprinkle chippings on any of the decent roads around Dartmoor mid/late summer [].

So very much looking forward to this trip! We should be fine to leave during the afternoon on the Friday.

I was just thinking about when I last went down to Dartmoor, and I'm surpirsed to realise that it's got to be about 16 or 17 years ago. In an 1800 Vauxhall Carlton. Comfy old thing but not so good in the twisties! Where does the time go?
