dash clock removal

can anyone guide me on how to remove the clock. I've looked up behind it and can see nothing but wires and looms all over the rear of it. does it come out the front? or does the bezel need removed and it falls back into the firewall?

Mine's not working and need to get it out to check all.
 
The instruments are just located by interference fit. You "simply" just carefully prise them out. Extreme care is needed not to damage the instrument panel.
 
First of all disconnect the battery,live terminals and metal dash, not a good combination. Then with a blunt screwdriver and a cloth between it and the dash, slowly work behind the rubber gasket and gently prize out the clock. It's difficult with the clock to get round all sides, but once you get it started it's soon possible to get your fingers under the gasket. You could try running a drop of WD40 from the end of a small screwdriver at the top edge between the rubber and the dash, if it's proving stubborn.

Have just had my clock repaired. ( see previous message titled "Times up for Clock")

It's usually a capacitor which goes, so suggest sending it to John to repair http://www.jdo1.com

thanks guys, must try that tomorow afternoon. The car is currently in a bodyshop getting a full respray so now's a good time to send it off.
 
Hi

I removed the clock by wiggling it out from the front compartment ( you have to remove the drivers side bonnet strut )carefully with a piece of wood , that way it was impossible to damage the dash . Once the clock is out working from inside the car you can put your hand through the hole and work your way along removeing each dial from behind with your hand .

Ditto the above, when I had all my dials coloured coded I removed them by using a wooden stick from inside the bonnet to slowly work them free, then from inmside the car full them through.
